Okay sports fans. The half marathon and marathon in Houston on January 15, will be very hot. 63-65 degrees at start and 97 percent humidity. Yes, you must hydrate, but you also have to slow down your pace. Slowing down your pace is the only way to slow down your exertion rate.
Brant Kotch gave me eight words for Houston marathoners and half marathoners: “Slow down, slow down, slow down and slow down.” That is only way you will slow down your exertion rate. This could be the matter of finishing slow or spending time in a hospital. This is not a joke!

The Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon will be upleasantly warm. Do not get in trouble. If you feel strange, tell your running friends and the volunteers right away, and stop moving! If you over exert yourself tomorrow, you could truly hurt yourself, or worse!
So, have fun tomorrow, and run, very, very slow!
