POTCHEFSTROOM (RSA): Caster Semenya will contest the 400m and 800m at the ASA Senior Championships which begin on Friday, informs the Independent Online. Semenya was initially planning to defend her 400m, 800m and 1500m titles before opted to contest just two events. Olympic and world 400m champion Wayde van Niekerk is set to contest the 100m and 200m where he will face strong opposition from Akani Simbine, Anaso Jobodwana and Gift Leotlela. LJ van Zyl is set to go head-to-head with Cornel Fredericks in the 400m hurdles while Wanda Nel is due to contest both the 400m hurdles and 200m. Olympic medallists Sunette Viljoen and Luvo Manyonga will provide the highlights in the technical events and Lebogang Shange is the favourite in the 20km walk.
