LONDON (GBR): Former European 10,000m champion Jo Pavey is confirmed for the Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m on 20 May, informs Athletics Weekly. Pavey dropped out of the London Marathon last month with cramp but hopes to make the British team for the World Championships in London on the track. Pavey will face fellow Rio Olympians Jessica Martin, Beth Potter and Sonia Samuels while the leading international entrant is Portugal’s Jessica Augusto. Top names in the men’s race include Andy Vernon and Ross Millington who both ran the 10,000m in Rio last summer.
RunBlogRun opines: The Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000 meters is one of the most creative events around the globe. RunBlogRun was there in 2016 and will be there in 2017. It features runners of many levels racing the 10,000m, with fans drinking beer, eating peculiar British foodstuffs and a fascinating approach to drinking beer and watching athletics. We want to bring this event to the former colonies.
