A Quick Visit with Robby Andrews Gearing Up For Worlds

Throughout his running career, Robby Andrews has had a flair for the dramatic. Throughout the High School, Collegiate, and Elite Level, Andrews’ finishing kick has always been his trademark for much of his success. Others would also point out that sometimes his tactics and strategy would leave him out if the medals as well.
But not this summer. By staying up front in the mix at last month’s USATF Championships 1500 victory, combined with his flat-out 2nd place 1500 race at Tracktown’s NYC meet (where he qualified for the World Champs in London with a time of 3:35.25) Andrews seems to have adjusted his Racing to be nearer to the front pack than in the past.

The question for fans is can he do it against the World’s best, including USA teammates Matt Centrowitz (The Rio Olympic Champion) and Johnny Gregorek (who won the Tracktown NYC race in a time of 3:35.00)?

“My Preparations for London went as well as I could have hoped,” said Andrews this past week. “I just finished my last long run before heading across the pond.”

“Robby’s really been coming along very well,” said his coach Jason Vigilante. “Two Weeks out and he’ll be in the qualifiers and semis in London.”

With his “work in the bank” combined with more strength it seems this year than in the past, can Andrews once again pull an exciting performance out of his hat? Andrews feels that he is thoroughly prepared.

“Nothing left to do but race.”
