MO & Larry Show, Part 4: The women’s 100 meters, the story behind the scenes

4.pngThe MO & Larry Show ran for the second time during the London World Champs after premiering in 2016 for the Rio Olympics. Maurice Green, the World champ in 1997, 1999 and 2001 over 100 meters, as well as gold medalist in 100 meters at Sydney, and bronze medalists at 100 meters in Athens. From 1997-200, Maurice dominated the world of sport with his swagger, his racing and his personality.

What is prescient about this show is Mo’s reasoning on why the 100 meter for women was so important, from Tori Bowie’s amazing to Elaine Thompson, double gold from RIo, who took no medals, to Marie Josee Ta Lou, and Daphne Schippers, who medaled in the 100m and 200 meters.

What impressed me here was how Maurice Greene read the fields, commented on the fields and recognized that the women’s 100 meters would be, and was, one of the best events of the World Champs.
