Jenn Suhr opened the 2018 indoor season in Toronto, Canada with a nice clearance of 4.81 meters, and then made attempts at 4.91m. The 2018 pole vault wars are on!

INDOOR RESULTS
DORTMUND (GER, Jan 21): International indoor meeting of Dortmund returned with Gina Luckenkemper achieving the best result with 7.11 in the 60 m, she equaled so the World lead. Second Lisa Mayer 7.17 and third hurdles World medalist Pamela Dutkiewicz 7.35. Nadine Hildebrand won the hurdles 8.03, among men Belgian Koen Smet 7.81 (7.77 in heats). Peter Emelieze clocked 6.61 in the 60 m. Katharina Bauer cleared 452 in pole vault and in long jump Cuban Yariadmis Arguelles leaped to 658 over Germans headed by Nadja Kather 655 and Malaika Mihambo 652 with Sosthene Moguenara 644.
EDMONTON (CAN, Jan 20): Decathlon star Damian Warner won after long jump also 60 m hurdles at Golden Bear Open meet with 7.73.
TORONTO (CAN, Jan 20): Olympic winner 2012 Jenn Suhr is in top shape early in the season with 481 clearance at Fred Foot Invitational. She also tried at 491.
ATHENS (GRE, Jan 20): In his first race of the season Panayiótis Trivizás set a new PB in the 60 m with good 6.68.
ATHLONE (IRL, Jan 20-21): Kate O’ Connor scored an Irish U20, U23 and senior pentathlon record with a score of 4108 points at the Irish Life Health National Combined Events on Saturday. On Sunday Claire Mooney won the women 800 m in good 2:02.3.
THESSALONÍKI (GRE, Jan 20): 20-year-old Konstadínos Zíkos (semifinalist last year in Grosseto) improved here to 6.69 in the 60 m.
MINSK (BLR, Jan 20): World junior champion 2016 Elvira Herman improved her PB over 60m hurdles to 8.06 in the heat at the Minsk Winter meeting. Then she for second time confirmed Birmingham standard, when clocking 8.07 to win the final. European Junior champion 2017 Maksim Nedasekau cleared 226 in men’s high jump over reigning European U23 champion Dzmitry Nabokau 223. Irina Vaskovskaya won women’s triple jump with 14.00m and Alena Pasechnik topped shot put with 17.12m.
UST-KAMENOGORSK (KAZ, Jan 20): At international indoor meeting Olga Rypakova Prizes Levon Aghasyan from Armenia 16.39m and Irina Ektova 13.48m topped triple jump competitions. Ukrainian Vitaliy Butrym and Elina Mihina (KAZ) improved meeting records at 400m to 46.90 and 53.29 respectively.
ORENBURG (RUS, Jan 20): At annual Orenburg Mile meeting, the sixth stage of the Russian Winter tour, Vladimir Nikitin missed Russian indoor record only by 0.5 with 3:58.31 over 1 mile. Konstantin Shabanov sprinted 7.67 over hurdles ahead of his brother Filipp 7.88. Igor Obraztsov was fastest at men’s 60 m with 6.68. Aleksandra Gulyaeva won women’s 1000m in 2:40.11.
BUDAPEST (HUN, Jan 20): World medalist Balazs Baji won the 60 m hurdles at Budapest Region Champs with 7.68. Anita Marton won shot put 18.12 and Luca Kozak 8.17 in the 60 m hurdles.
MADRID (ESP, Jan 20): Oscar Husillos clocked Spanish 300 m record with 32.39. It is also fastest in the World 2018.
LYON (FRA, Jan 21): In the regional event Christophe Lemaitre won also the 200 m in 21.00 and Frederic Dagee confirmed his top shape with 20.25 in shot put.
VIENNA (AUT, Jan 20): At ERIMA Meeting national indoor records in women 400 m for Slovakia by Alexandra Bezekova 52.68 and Serbia Maja Ciric 52.78 as second.
POTSDAM (GER, Jan 20): European Indoor champion Piotr Lisek won the men part of Potsdam Pole Vault meet with 578 clearance. Behind him Melker Svard Jakobsson of Sweden and third French Axel Chapelle both 568.
VALENCIA (ESP, Jan 20): At the indoor meet Daniel Andujar won the 600 m in 1:17.26 and Sergio Jimenez the 3000 m in 7:54.83.
JABLONEC (CZE, Jan 20): Great shape by European Indoor champion 2011 Petr Svoboda who clocked at Jablonecka Hala meet fast 7.51, his fastest since 2011. Long jump record holder Radek Juska won with 798 and Greek talent and still U20 athlete Emmanouil Karalis went over 565 in pole vault with good attempts at 578.
OSTRAVA (CZE, Jan 20): Zdenek Stromsik improved at regional championships to 6.66 over 60 m and missed the Birmingham standard only by 0.03.
MAGGLINGEN (SUI, Jan 20-21): At Swiss Indoor opening meet Mujinga Kambundji sprinted to 7.26 over 60 m, Angelica Moser cleared 441 in the pole vault. Italian European U20 Champion from last year Vladimir Aceti improved his indoor PB at 400 m to 46.88. Another Italian PB by Hassane Fofana in the 60 m hurdles with 7.71.
KULDIGA (LAT, Jan 20): Jamaican Ryan Shields won the 60 m at Katrinas Kauss meet with 6.70.
HALLE (GER, Jan 20): European champion Cindy Roleder returned at regional event to 60 m hurdles with 8.10.
NEUBRANDENBURG (GER, Jan 20): New personal best for German shot putter Patrick Muller 20.14 here at regional championships.
ANTEQUERA (ESP, Jan 20): European U20 medalist Luis Salort equaled his Spanish U20 60 m hurdles record 7.69 (U20 height).
LEVERKUSEN (GER, Jan 20): Bo Kanda Lita Baehre improved to 560 in pole vault here, in high jump Dutch Douwe Amels cleared 226 (indoor PB) over Mateusz Przybylko 222.
MODENA (ITA, Jan 20): Italian 60 m record holder Michael Tumi started with good 6.67 here.
