INDIANAPOLIS — Four athletes have accepted invitations to compete for Team USATF at the IAAF World Indoor Championships Birmingham 2018, totaling the roster to 53.

Tori Franklin and Olympians Erik Kynard Jr., Keturah Orji and Inika McPherson join an impressive group of competitors headed to the U.K., March 1-4.

2012 Olympic silver medalist Kynard (Toledo, Ohio) returns to IAAF World Championships as the defending bronze medalist in men’s high jump. He recently made history by winning his fifth consecutive USATF Indoor title, setting a record for consecutive wins in the event. Kynard also represented the U.S. at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Orji (Mount Olive, New Jersey) joins Team USATF as the American record holder in the women’s triple jump. The UGA senior also finished fourth in her Olympic debut in Rio and was fourth at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships.

Women’s high jumper McPherson (Port Arthur, Texas) is a two-time World Indoor and Outdoor Championships competitor, 2016 Olympian and second-place finisher at this year’s USATF Indoor Championships.

The women’s triple jump field also gains Franklin (Westmont, Illinois), who jumped a lifetime best at 2018 USATF Indoors to clinch her second straight title and move her to sixth on the all-time U.S. indoor list. Franklin also made Team USATF at last year’s World Championships in London.
