PORTLAND (USA): Alberto Salazar has said Galen Rupp has been dealing with a sore Achilles in the build-up to the Chicago Marathon, informs Losse Veter. “The goal was to be competitive. It’s Galen’s first race before the Chicago Marathon in five weeks so we were hoping for something around 46 minutes,” said Salazar after Rupp finished third in the Tilburg 10-Miles in 46:24. “We believe it’s important to run a couple of races before a marathon just to remember how to compete. He’s had some slight injury problems – nothing that has stopped his training – he doesn’t feel smooth yet but we still have five weeks until Chicago. He’s had a sore of Achilles in the last week or so.” Rupp is still due to run the Copenhagen Half Marathon on 16 September.
