The first presser of the Mainova Marathon Frankfurt featurerd Arne Gabius and Katherina Heinig. Gabius and Heinig are quite popular in Germany, as both were 2017 National champions in the marathon in Frankfurt last year. Both have done well in Frankfurt, as opposed to other marathons.

This section is in German and English. The English questions are mine, and came after Katherina had been dutifully answering questions on her training and upcoming race. In this section, I asked Arne to describe his fitness and how his training had gone the last eight weeks.

Gabius had focused on long runs and long workouts. He was not in pain, and he trained well. He had one race, a 30:01 10k, where the winner ran 27:21. Gabius admitted to being sick, but notes he could run 2:09-2:11. Gabius, remember, ran a superb 2:08.33 here in 2015, eclipsing the 27 year old German record.
What will he run Sunday? Well, we will try and answer that after Part 2.
This was videod from my I phone.
