Elite field for Fukuoka

FUKUOKA (JPN): The elite field for the Fukuoka Marathon on 2 December is headed by former world champion Ghirmay Ghebreslassie from Eritrea (2:07:46) and former world silver medallist Yemane Tsegay from Ethiopia (2:04:48), Kenya’s Vincent Kipruto (2:05:13) and world fourth-placer Callum Hawkins (2:10:17). The leading home contingent includes former Japanese record-holder Yuta Shitara (2:06:11), Kentaro Nakamoto (2:08:35), Satoru Sasaki (2:08:56) and regular racer Yuki Kawauchi (2:08:14).

RunBlogRun opines: Fukuoka used to be the unofficial yearly world championships in the marathon. Nice to see that the fields continue to make it a respectful event. Ghebreslassie is a tough marathoner, as is Callum Hawkins and Yemaner Tsegay. Should be a good race on December 2.
