The first day of the 2019 Glasgow European Athletics Indoor Champs, three finals took place: ther 3000m women, the pentathlon and Men’s shot put. This is the behind the scene notes from EME News.

GLASGOW NEWS
GLASGOW (GBR): France’s Jean-Pierre Bertrand, who had been a medal contender in the men’s long jump, was forced to withdraw from qualifying after one jump after a flare up of the adductor pain which he felt at his national championships. From FFA.
GLASGOW (GBR): Jakob Ingebrigtsen has commented at the decision to disqualify his older brother Filip from the heats of the 1500m after the former European 1500m champion stepped on the inside of the track on a bend. “It was the stupidest thing I’ll see all year,” he told the BBC. “I saw the race and there was nothing wrong with it. I believe it’s the new tactics for the 1500m – you push someone and you qualify.”
GLASGOW (GBR): Gjert Ingebrigtsen, father and coach of the Ingebrigtsens, expressed his disapproval of the decision regarding Filip. He wrote on Twitter: “Disappointed on behalf of Filip and #TeamIngebrigtsen for the disqualification today. #Glasgow2019 didn’t have to, but chose to go through with the disqualification of Filip. Did the judges do a good job for EA? No, I don’t think they did. We will find a way to pay you back.”
GLASGOW (GBR): World 200m champion Dafne Schippers confirmed today she will line up in the heats of the 60 tomorrow following uncertainty linked to a back problem, nos.nl reports.
GLASGOW (GBR): Official rules explanations for Filip Ingebrigtsen dq was rule 163.3 running out of the track, for Ismael Debjani from Belgium 163.2 obstruction. Both appeals were rejected.
GLASGOW (GBR): Title defender in triple jump Kirstin Gierisch did not compete due to a knee injury from last training before Glasgow.
GLASGOW (GBR): Great double races on Friday. Jakob Ingebrigtsen in 80 minutes winning 1500 m heat in 3:42.00 and then 3000 m European U20 indoor record 7:51.20. Also Laura Muir first qualifying from 1500 m heats and after 2:30 hrs winning the 3000 m in meet record and World lead. And capacity crowd of 5000 watched the evening session.
