It has been a dominant fall season for Kamworor who ran a new Half Marathon World Record of 58:01 in Copenhagen, Denmark this September. In a comfortable pace the pack got to the 38km mark when the leading men picked up the pace. Geoffrey Kamworor was the first out of the remaining athletes to enter the Central Park and set course to the finish line. After crossing the finish line as the new champion he was welcomed with open arms by his friend, teammate and mentor Eliud Kipchoge as they celebrated the win together with Coach Patrick Sang.
Moments after the finish Geoffrey said: It feels so wonderful to win here in NYC again for the second time. I felt really strong all race and knowing that Eliud was on the finish line waiting me gave me a big motivation to win this race. It was very special to be able to celebrate together with Eliud as my mentor and Patrick Sang as my coach on the finish line.
