The 2020 Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, which was just held on January 24, 2020, reminded the marathon world of how deep the marathon tradition is in Ethiopia and Kenya.

In the women’s race, Worknesh Degefa took the lead, and despite some stomach issues, did not stop until she took her second title in Dubai (she won in 2017, took fourth in 2018, second in 2019 and now, a second win), in 2:19.34.
On the men’s side, nineteen year old Olika Adugna lead 11 men under 2:07, ten under 2:06.31 and took the lead and won by two seconds in 2:06:15, and in his first marathon.
