Marcel Hug and Sandra Graf are the defending champions of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon. Alan Ewans wanted to ask them a few questions on their training and the quickness of the Dubai marathon course.
Hug has won everything, and continues to battle the top athletes in his sport. An eight time Olympic medalist (4 in 2016, 2 in 2012, 2 in 2004). Hug has made his presence known on the marathon courses, having won 4 straight Boston Marathons, among his 18 major marathon victories. Sandra Graf continues to astound. Three Olympic medals (2008, 2012), and the 2008 winner of London Marathon in a course record of 1:48.04. Graf has taken two breaks in her career to have children. She continues to battle the very best.
The global marathon racers can be seen all overr the world.
The quality of the global wheelchair culture is such that, most races, on the men’s sides, come to big sprint finishes. The women’s top racers also have close races, but when top athletes are in shape, the races are fascinating: full of tactics and runaways.
That Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon supports a developing wheelchair race here, giving Marcel Hug and Sandra Graf a training camp prior to the 2020 race.
