The lasting impression that I had from Madrid was, well, the closeness of the track, the stands and how excited the fans became in the tiny facility. I was sitting with coaches, athletes near the pole vault and jumps. I spent much of the evening observing coachers and athletes and their relationships. The meet started out quietly and built up. The fans got into it, and the Spanish athletes were feted.

MADRID (ESP): Provisional entry lists have been published for the World Athletics Indoor Tour meeting in Madrid on 21 February. Highlights include Ronnie Baker and Demek Kemp in the 60m, Adam Kszczot, Amel Tuka, Marcin Lewandowski in a high-class 800m, Selemon Barega and Bethwel Birgen in the 3000m, Juan Miguel Echevarria, Miltiadis Tentoglou and Thobias Montler in the long jump, Brianna McNeal and Christina Clemons in the 60m hurdles. In the triple jumps World Indoor records will be under attack with Yulimar Rojas and Fabrice Zango Hugues. Shot put will see dramatic final for World Indoor Tour between Tomas Stanek and Filip Mihaljevic. World leader Justyna Swiety-Ersetic is in the 400 m, Gudaf Tsegay and Lemlem Hailu in the 1500 m.
