The Czech republic is opening competitions, under strict limitations due to COVID-19. Some of the top stars of the sport in the Czech republic will be competing. This is a good, cautious start.
June 1: 165 competitions in Czech Rep
PRAGUE (CZE): Czech Athletics has announced that more than 160 track and field meetings will take place from 1 June onwards. Domestic stars such as Barbora Å potÃ¡kovÃ¡, TomÃ¡Å¡ StanÄ›k and Pavel MaslÃ¡k will compete at live-televised meetings in Kladno, Plzen and KolÃn on 1 June. Government guidelines allow gatherings of up to 100 people. World javelin record-holder Spotakova will compete against European silver medallist Nikola OgrodnÃkovÃ¡, former junior European champion Nikol TabaÄkovÃ¡ and Petra AndrejskovÃ¡ in Kladno. Shot-putter Tomas Stanek will also compete. World indoor 400m champion Pavel Maslak will take part in the 300m. Former world junior high jump champion Michaela HrubÃ¡ and pole vaulter Jan KudliÄka will be in action in Pilsen. “I am very glad that the athletic clubs have taken our challenge and thanks to our common effort we have been able to significantly exceed our originally planned 100 athletic meetings. I am excited that the Czech athletic family will be together at the start in such large numbers and we will open the competitive season,” said Libor VarhanÃk, President of the Czech Athletic Federation.
