BRITISH ATHLETICS LAUNCHES RECRUITMENT FOR PERFORMANCE DIRECTOR & OLYMPIC HEAD COACH

British Athletics has today begun the recruitment process for two key roles part of a new era for the sport. Applications are being sought for a Performance Director to lead a single performance and talent system within the UK as well as a Head Coach to front the Olympic World Class Programme as a key part of the structure moving forward.
The first two significant appointments set to be made by CEO Joanna Coates, the Performance Director will focus not only on the successful delivery of the UK Sport-funded Olympic and Paralympic World Class Programmes and the talented athletes who will represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland in the next cycle but also the programmes that align and underpin it and those athletes that will represent the nation in the future.
The Head Coach will run the Olympic World Class Programme, managing the performance of elite podium athletes and programmes with the support of a team of employed and personal coaches working closely with the Head of Performance Support. They will provide leadership to align culture and behaviours of coaching, management, sport science and medicine staff to create team and world class performance environments at all major senior competitions, preparation and training camps.
Through the joint vision ‘An Athletic Nation’, British Athletics and the Home Country Athletic Federations plan to ensure that running, throwing and jumping is open and available to everyone. Central to this joint vision is that athletics is and is seen to be the most safe, popular and inclusive across the UK, with high standards and ethics at the core of everything we do.
We want to welcome everyone into the athletics family and encourage job applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates irrespective of gender, ethnicity, religion or belief, age, sexual orientation, sex, gender reassignment, disability, pregnancy and maternity. British Athletics is proud of its status as a Disability Confident Leader and will guarantee an interview to any candidate with disability who meets the minimum job criteria.
Joanna Coates, CEO, said: “The recruitment of a Performance Director and a Head Coach for our Olympic World Class Programme continues the beginning of a new era for athletics in the UK. Both roles are essential in helping to shape not only a single performance and talent system within the UK but also how the sport moves forward and ensures exemplary cultures and behaviours with athletes at the heart of everything we do.
“The joint ‘An Athletic Nation’ vision between ourselves and the Home Country Athletic Federations will be at the heart of each role and we look forward to starting the recruitment process and welcoming applications. This is an extremely exciting time for the sport of athletics in the UK and both roles present a brilliant opportunity for each individual to make a difference both immediately and as we begin the next cycle.”
To apply for these roles, visit http://careers.ukathletics.org.uk/ . Closing date for applications is Sunday 12th July 2020. To find out more about the positions, please contact Dawn Brown at dawnbrown@positivedynamics.co.uk to arrange a confidential conversation.
