byAlfonz JuckI have to admit. The two meets I want to visit and experience are the Golden Spike in Ostrava and the Gyulai Memorial. I watched the Gyulain on Swiss TV in 2017 when I was in Lausanne. It was excellent!
And Tianna Bartoletta, the Olympic LJ and 4x100m gold medalist, told me that she loves the Gyulia: ” I love that meet in Hungary. I love to walk to the stadium prior to the meet, and also, I sometimes walk back to the hotel with the fans!
As my family is Hungarian, I hope to get a seat at the Gyulai someday….

SZEKESFEHERVAR (HUN): Two-time world 200m champion Dafne Schippers is among the latest additions to the fields for the Istvan Gyulai Memorial on 19 August (Continental Tour Gold). Schippers will contest the 200m in Szekesfehervar. Portugal’s former world triple jump champion Pedro Pablo Pichardo is due to face Alexis Copello and the previously announced Christian Taylor in the triple jump, Poles Pawel Fajdek and Wojciech Nowicki face home favourite Bence Halasz in the hammer and European champion Andrius Gudzius from Lithuania is confirmed for the discus. Elsewhere, European champion Pascal Martinot-Lagarde is due to face former world bronze medallist Balazs Baji from Hungary in the 110m hurdles and Great Britain’s Shara Proctor is confirmed for the long jump. To help keep in line with the restrictions that are still in place in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, organisers have reduced the programme to just 13 disciplines, with the 400m the longest running race to ensure separate lanes for all competitors.
