One of my fave athletes to observe in competition and also, to query and observe in press conferences is Mariya Lasitskene. Lasitskene is a wily competitor. She speaks with herself in her competitions and only seems to be completely conscious when she gets above 2 meters. Watching her clear 2.06m, and how the crowd became mesmerized is a huge memory with Lausanne DL.

At this time, the best women’s high jumper is political collateral damage in the big game that has engulfed World Athletics and the All-Russia Athletics Federation.

I’m convinced that Mariya Lasitskene can clear 6.10m.

Stay tuned.

MOSCOW (RUS): Mariya Lasitskene is still training with the hope that she will be able to compete internationally later this summer, informs TASS. “We had a schedule on the international tournaments from the very beginning, we have been organising training sessions in line with this schedule, we have been making preparations in line with this schedule and have never deviated from this schedule,” she said. Lasitskene doesn’t have neutral status this season after World Athletics froze the application process following All-Russia Athletics Federation’s alleged involvement in the Danil Lysenko doping case.
