I love the Shamrock Shuffle.

I used to visit Chicago for the race weekend. I loved to see runners getting to the start, and how chilly it could be in March. I also enjoyed seeing Carey Pinkowski and Mike Nishi getting around the event and amazingly smooth the event went.

The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle Opens Registration for a Virtual Race Designed to Keep Runners Motivated and Moving This Winter

The Traditional St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Will Feature a Virtual Race, an Eight-Week Training Challenge, and the Deloitte Team Competition

CHICAGO, December 17, 2020 – Today the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle announced the launch of registration for the long-standing Chicago tradition, which will return as a virtual event in 2021. For more than four decades, runners have participated in this popular road race to kick off the outdoor running season and continue the St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Chicago. An eight-week Training Challenge will keep runners motivated and moving on their journey to the virtual race weekend experience, which will take place Friday, March 19 through Sunday, March 21.

“For more than 40 years, the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle has brought the running community together for a celebration of health and movement,” said Executive Race Director Carey Pinkowski. “While we wish we could be together in person, we’re excited for a new take on one of the city’s most celebrated running traditions.”

The journey to the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle will kick off on Monday, January 25 with an eight-week Training Challenge. Shufflers will be supported every step of the way as they take on the Nike Training Program and tackle weekly mileage challenges with the ultimate goal of getting the best version of themselves across their own finish line.

The spirit of the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle will carry on over race weekend, as participants take part in virtual runs in neighborhoods across the city and around the world. Registered participants will join friends and family for the 8K, 2-Mile Walk or The Mile. Shufflers will receive a Nike Dri-FIT shirt, running belt and other digital amenities including a personalized event bib number.

The Deloitte Team Competition is another opportunity for registered participants to compete and connect virtually. The Team Competition is a unique way to bring the camaraderie of training and race day to running clubs, groups of friends, and corporate teams during this unique time. Teams will compete based on overall mileage during the Training Challenge and average race time over race weekend.

Individuals interested in taking part in the 2021 Bank of America Shamrock can sign up now. The cost of an entry is $30 for United States residents and $55 for participants residing outside of the United States.

Additional details about the 2021 event and registration information are available at shamrockshuffle.com.
