This is a big deal. ASICS is now the 7th sponsor since 1985!

This is two stories.

ASICS is on a roll. The 2021 ASICS line is amazing running shoes, and ASICS knows that. ASICS took back the LA marathon last year, taking it once Skechers pulled out. Now, ASICS takes sponsorship at the most visible summer road racing event in New England ! This is a big deal at ASICS and we are happy to see this prominent brand getting back involved in North America.

Falmouth Road Race is a huge event! Falmouth Road Race is an example of how to build a prestigious road race, and how to keep the sponsors happy.

What does this mean at New Balance? At the end of the day, NB is a business. Companies will exit events that do not make business sense. NB is seeing a changing of the leadership, with the son of Jim Davis moving into a strong position within NB. NB, like other companies is just remembering that they are a business.

ASICS Joins Falmouth Road Race as Title Sponsor in 2021

Falmouth, MA (January 14, 2021) – Falmouth Road Race, Inc. today announced that ASICS, a leading sport performance brand, has committed to a multi-year partnership to become title sponsor of the Falmouth Road Race beginning with its 49t h running this summer.

Over 70 years ago, ASICS was founded with the belief that movement was a means to build health and happiness in both mind and body. This complements the mission statement of Falmouth Road Race, Inc. promoting health and fitness through community programs and philanthropic giving.

“This partnership represents so much more than a sponsorship,” said Alex Vander Hoeven, General Manager of ASICS Fitness Apps. “It is a true example of how a world-class event such as the Falmouth Road Race can collaborate with ASICS’ global suite of products and digital services. We look forward to being on the course come race day and are honored to be part of the greater Falmouth Road Race community.”

The Falmouth Road Race was first held in 1973, the dream of race founder Tommy Leonard after he watched Frank Shorter compete during the 1972 Summer Games. The inaugural race featuring approximately 100 participants has evolved into one of the country’s premier road races, welcoming over 10,000 runners each year.

“Our partnership is new, but we have long played host to ASICS athletes who have added much to our events,” said Scott Ghelfi, president of the Falmouth Road Race, Inc., board of directors. “We look forward to having ASICS as a title partner that shares our commitment to health, wellness, and giving back to our community.”

Founded in 1949, ASICS has a storied history in running. ASICS is an acronym for the Latin phrase ‘Anima Sana In Corpore Sano’ or ‘a Sound Mind in a Sound Body’. This is what guides ASICS from product innovations based on human-centric science to charitable partnerships; this philosophy continues to ring true in every aspect of the brand today. Alongside a rich product vault, ASICS has a robust roster of world class athletes, including the 2015 Falmouth Road Race winner, Diane Nukuri. ASICS roster of athletes also includes the two fastest American female marathoners in history, Deena Kastor and Sara Hall.

The ASICS® Falmouth Road Race is scheduled to be held August 15, pending approval by the Town of Falmouth. Details will be announced in the coming months. Visit www.falmouthroadrace.com to sign up for updates and registration details.
