Seb Coe is a man who is always quoted. And much is going on this week….
Not only technology to beat the records
PARIS (FRA): World Athletics President Sebastian Coe considers developments in technology, especially next-generation spikes, to be part of the evolution and history of athletics. Writes L´Equipe. “This process is working well but inevitably takes time to put in place,” said a statement for L´Equipe. “All new shoes and prototypes have been and will continue to be reviewed against the regulations, before being used in international competitions where athlete performances are recorded. The shoes will also continue to be listed on an approved shoe list on the World Athletics website.” Coe also added: “Creativity and innovation within the technical teams of equipment manufacturers are just one of the multiple factors that must all come together to beat a world record. You must also take into consideration other factors such as the preparation that has been made and in particular the motivation of the athletes in an Olympic year. It is also important to note that during the last records, ideal conditions (pacemakers, weather, course) were encountered. “
Delighted to see a new British 800m record last night – what took you so long @elliot_levi_giles 😊 Seriously I know what it takes to run that quickly and even more so with the crazy build up over the last 12 months. Congratulations, so well deserved ðŸ‘ðŸ‘👠#WorldIndoorTour https://t.co/V4B372KJu5
