MIRAMAR (USA, Apr 10): Super-fast sprinting highlighted the Miramar Invitational in Florida (WACT Silver) when She’Carri Richardson blasted to victory in the women’s 100m final in a wind-legal 10.72 (1.6) after 11.00 (+0.4) in the heat (Javianne Oliver 11.05 PB and Natalliah Whyte from Jamaica 11.07 were fast in heats). Richardson with fastest ever before May moves to sixth on the world all-time list behind Florence Griffith-Joyner (10.49), Carmelita Jeter (10.64), Marion Jones (10.65) and Jamaicans Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (10.70) and Elaine Thompson (10.70). Kyree King edged out Justin Gatlin in the men’s 100m, 9.97 PB (1.9) to 9.98 (at age of 39) ahead of Cejhae Greene 10.00 and Liberian record 10.01 for Emmanuel Matadi. There was also an excellent women’s 400m with Shamier Little and Quanera Hayes both breaking the 50 second-barrier with 49.91 (WL and PB) and 49.92 respectively followed by Kendall Ellis 50.48. There was fast sprinting elsewhere across the programme although many of the times were wind-aided. Kenny Bednarek blazed to a 19.65 200m (4.0) and Jenna Prandini won a high quality 200m final in 22.29 (2.3) from world silver medallist Brittany Brown (22.39), Candace Hill (22.43) with double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah fourth in 22.44. World champion Grant Holloway won the 110m hurdles final in 13.04 (2.2) after also windy 13.14 heat (+3.3) and world record-holder Kendra Harrison stormed to a wind-aided 12.38 in the 100m hurdles final (2.7 but a wind-legal 12.54 WL +2.0 in the heat) from Brits Cindy Sember (12.55) and Tiffany Porter (12.57). Kenny Selmon clocked World leading 48.81 in the 400 m hurdles and U20 Justin Robinson won the 400 m in 45.23 in difficult wind conditions. Ajee Wilson also won the women’s 800m in 2:00.57 from Jamaica’s Natoya Goule in 2:00.92. Men´s 800 m for Abe Alvarado 1:47.29 (Matt Centrowitz sixth 1:50.97) and 1500 m for Michael Saruni 3:45.84. In the field events, world champion Tajay Gayle won the long jump with a 8.27 WL (+1.5) and Jamaica’s Danielle Thomas-Dodd reached out to 19.17m in the shot put ahead of Maggie Ewen with 18.69m. Canada’s Christabel Nettey won the long jump also with a wind-aided 6.63 (+3.4) and Rachel McCoy high jump with 190. In men´s high jump Shelby McEwen 226 (and tried at Oly standard 233).
