The ADIZERO: ROAD TO RECORDS EVENT will return on April 30, 2022 to adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany. The event this year will showcase some of adidas finest global ambassadors as they try to see how fast that they can go over 5k, 10k and 21k.

I have been to adidas events in Herzogenaurach, Germany. The Adi Dassler stadium hosted a fine track meet in 2016 as adidas began showcasing global events, and RunBlogRun was fortunate to help cover the event for the brand.

Herzogenaurach, March 31, 2022: Today, adidas reveals that the ADIZERO: ROAD TO RECORDS event will return for a second time on April 30, 2022, at its HQ in Herzogenaurach, Germany.
Following a show-stopping inaugural event in 2021, which saw two World Records being broken by athletes wearing shoes from the record-winning Adizero franchise, this year’s ADIZERO: ROAD TO RECORDS is set to provide countless awe-inspiring race moments. To enable viewers from around the world to get in on the action and witness some of the world’s best compete against each other, the event will be live-streamed via the adidas running YouTube channel.

World-class athletes including Abel Kipchumba, Senbere Teferi, Rhonex Kipruto, and Kalkidan Gezahegn – to name a few – will compete in a variety of races, including the women’s and men’s 5k, 10k and 21k. The full athlete line-up and final race schedule will be announced soon.

Senbere Teferi, commented: “I’m excited that the adidas ADIZERO: ROAD TO RECORDS event is returning this year, and I can’t wait to race again! Last year I broke the world record in the 5K, which was an incredible experience, and I’m so proud of that achievement. It was a truly special day for me, and I can’t wait to give it my all again this year and try and go even faster than before!”

CONTINUING THE ADIZERO LEGACY

Supporting them on their quest to shatter PBs, all athletes will compete in shoes from the record-breaking Adizero franchise – including the Adios Adizero Pro 2 and the Adizero Takumi Sen 8.
Developed with and honed for the fastest athletes, the Adizero range demonstrates adidas’ continued ambition to constantly push boundaries and develop shoes that are set to help athletes make their impossible possible. A testament to this are the countless records that have been broken by athletes wearing Adizero shoes over the years. These victories include Senbere Teferi’s 5K world record in the Adizero Takumi Sen 8 at last year’s ROAD TO RECORDS event, Peres Jepchirchir’s world record for the half marathon in the Adizero Adios Pro 1 in Prague in 2020, as well as becoming the first athlete to win Olympic gold and the New York Marathon in the same year wearing the Adizero Adios Pro 2, and Haile Gebrselassie, who became the first person to break the 2:04hr barrier wearing the Adizero Adios 1.

HONORING AND SUPPORTING THE LATE AGNES TIROP

In honor of Agnes Tirop, who set the 10k world record at last year’s event, the women’s 10k will be renamed the “Agnes Jebet Tirop 10K”. In addition, adidas will continue supporting the Tirop Angels Trust (known as Tirop’s Angels) – an organization founded by Kenyan athletes and the late Agnes Tirop’s family, which aims to prevent gender-based violence. adidas will donate
$150,000 over the next four years, as well as a yearly product allocation, to help the charity as it continues its mission to prevent violence against women and girls.
