Why I Love the Highgate Harriers Night of 10,000m PBs (and why you should too), from RunBlogRun May 2017 Archives

In the final, the U.S. team lead until the last 80 meters, when the Dominican Republics’ Fiordalize Cofil overcame U.S.’s, Kennedy Simon.

What neither one of them saw was Femke Bol’s amazing anchor run, where she flew by Simon and nearly caught Cofil.

The Netherlands team took the bronze and they are a very talented group.

The first leg was run by Liemarvin Bonovacia, who took silver in the Tokyo 2020 4x400m, and was European indoor 400m bronze in 2017 and 2021. Bonovacia was also on the gold medal winning 4x400m at the 2021 European Indoors.

Lieke Klaver took the second leg. Lieke has take silvers in the 2022 World Indoors 4x400m and the gold in the 2021 European Indoors 4xx400 meter relay.

Tony Van Diepen was on the silver medal winning team in Tokyo 2020 at the 4x400m, and the silver medal winning team at the 2022 World Indoors. At the European Indoors in 2021, Tony was on the gold medal team in the 4x400m, and took silver in the 400 meters. Tony had taken bronze in the European Indoors in 2019.

Femke Bol was the anchor, and she is a prodigious talent, from 400m to the 400m hurdles. Femke was the Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist at the 400m hurdles, setting a ER of 52.03, held in 2021. In 2022, Femke Bol was silver in the 400m indoors and anchored the NED team to silver in the 4x400m at the Belgrade 2022 World Indoors. Her 400 meter race in Eugene would gain her another silver medal in a global championships.

RunBlogRun expects to see Liemarvin Bonavacia, Lieke Klaver, Tony van Diepen and Femke Bol all in the European Athletics Champonships, held in Munich, Germany, from August 15-21, 2022. Watch for updates here!
