LAUSANNE (SUI, Aug 25): Special pole vault near the lake in super summer weather (27-28 degrees) and before some 2000 spectators saw superstar Mondo Duplantis clearing 610 in the third attempt. Also, his previous 600 was done on the third try. It was his 53rd jump over six meters. The next three cleared 580 and were not successful at 590 in the ranking: 2nd Chris Nilsen, 3rd Ernest John Obiena, and 4th Sondre Guttormsen (his attempts at 590 were also NR attempts). Fifth, Ben Broeders went over 570.

“I was pretty tired, I wish I could have made 6.00m and 6.10m on my first attempts, but I took all three attempts to make both of them,” said Duplantis, who next competes in Brussels on 2 September, on his way to the Diamond League final in Zurich. His last two meets of the season. Special guests were IOC President Thomas Bach and legendary pole vaulter Sergey Bubka, who is also WA Vice President.
