Sandi Morris, the silver medalist in the women’s pole vault, was interviewed in the Mixed Zone by EBU RADIO on Day 3.

Sandi Morris is the two-time World Indoor Champion in the pole vault, having won gold in Birmingham 2018 and Belgrade 2022. She is also the 2016 Rio silver medalist in the Olympic pole vault, as well as a three-time World Champs silver medalist (2017 London, 2019 Doha, and 2022 Eugene) in the pole vault.

Sandi Morris has an indoor PB in the pole vault of 4.95m, or 16’3″, set on 12 March 2016. Sandi became a member of the 5-meter club when she cleared 5 meters outdoors (16’5″) on September 2, 2016, at the Van Damme Memorial Meeting.

The World Champs meet came down to Katie Nageotte, Olympic champion, and Sand Morris. Both had cleared 4.85m, but Katie had one fewer miss.

Sandi Morris is an ambassador athlete for the global running brand PUMA.

Katie was quoted in FlashQuotes with this immediate comment post-competition:

“I have to say that I am not very happy about this medal. Another silver, this is my fourth. But my happiness for Katie is separate from what I feel about my performance.

I am really disappointed about my attempt at 4.90. I knew what I had to do. I had to put that jump together. But that is a sport. I had really good shots at it but at least got the season s best.

It is hard to be disappointed at that, but it is hard to take another silver. “

Katie Nageotte and Sandi Morris have the same coach, Brad Walker, and warm up and cool down together, but Coach Walker provides them bespoke workouts.

This interview was done by EBU RADIO with Sandi Morris in the mixed zone just after her medal-winning performance.
