This is the first embed that we have done of Coffee with Larry. I began this as a FB LIVE program in June 2022  on https://www.facebook.com/RunBlogRun.

Each day, yours truly waxes semi-poetically about the happenings of global athletics. Today we spoke about the immortal Emil Zatopek, upcoming marathons and the challenges of media in the global sport. We will be posting each day on RunBlogRun, so we hope that you enjoy!

Emil Zatopek was a great athlete, but he was a patriot for his country. The Soviets tried to break his spirit and body and humiliate me. I did not know much of his story until after reading Pat Butchers’ book, Quicksliver, The Mercurial Emil Zatopek. This book is a must-read, and Pat Butcher is one of the finest writers in our sport. His research into Zatopek was relentless.

Quicksilver, the Mercurial Emil Zatopek, by Pat Butcher, the finest book on Emil Zatopek, can be found at www.globerunner.org
