Marathons in Chicago date back to 1905, and current Chicago Marathon, first called the Mayor Daley Marathon in its 1977 debut. The race went world class in 1985, under Beatrice, who had supported a $250,000 first prize in the 1984 race, and the battle was on.
Under Carey Pinkowski, Mike Nishi and the amazing current team, the Chicago Marathon is the largest marathon in the midwest and also has seen world records galore! This writer began visiting in 1990 and has missed just a couple of years since!
It is a huge complement to the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and their prestige in the marathon running industry.
