The New Balance Indoor GP is one of the finest meets that I attend each non-pandemic year. I am looking forward to being there in 2023, will you?

Boston, Mass. (Nov. 22, 2022) – Noah Lyles and Jake Wightman, the reigning world champions at 200m and 1500m, respectively, will return to the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, organizers announced today.

After temporarily relocating to Staten Island due to COVID-19, the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will make its debut at its new home, the TRACK at New Balance, a new, state-of-the-art indoor track and field facility at New Balance’s world headquarters in Brighton, Mass.

Tickets for the event on Feb. 4, which forms part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold, are now on sale at www.nbindoorgrandprix.com or by calling 1-877-849-8722.

Returning to action after a virtually flawless 2022 season, Noah Lyles is making his fifth appearance at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. Lyles began his 2022 campaign with an impressive win over 60m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix before going on to an undefeated season over 200m, which included victories at both the Wanda Diamond League Final and the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, the latter of which he won in 19.31, a new American record and the fourth-fastest time in history. In recognition of the dominance of his season, Lyles is currently a finalist for the World Athletics’  World Athlete of the Year Award.

Another world champion set to return to the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix is Jake Wightman of Great Britain. Wightman scored a thrilling victory at this year’s World Athletics Championships in the 1500m, becoming the first British man to win gold in the metric mile since Steve Cram in 1983. Following his triumph in Oregon, Wightman won the bronze medal over 1500m at the Commonwealth Games and the silver in the 800m at the European Championships before ending his season with his third win at the Fifth Avenue Mile. Wightman will headline the 3000m in Boston and will wrap up his indoor season at the Birmingham World Indoor Tour Final on February 25.

The women’s sprints will see the return of double Olympic medalist and hometown favorite Gabby Thomas. A native of Northampton, Mass., Thomas won the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championship title over 200m for Harvard University and the 200m at the 2021 US Olympic Trials in 21.61, the fifth-fastest time ever run. She went on to win the bronze medal in the 200m and silver in the 4x100m relay at the Tokyo Olympics. Thomas will be aiming for her fifth-straight win at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

The 2023 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will be shown live on NBC from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 4 and is a founding member of the World Athletics Indoor Tour. The series of the best indoor athletics events around the world awards overall tour winners $10,000 and a guaranteed spot at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

Now in its 28th year, the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix has hosted nine world and 16 American records.
