The RunBlogrun Interview: Asafa Powell, Working on the Little Imperfections, (from the Archives, January 6, 2008)

In 2023, Ferdinand Omanyala broke the Kenyan NR for the indoor 60 meters twice in one week this past season. His outdoor season has opened up well, with two very fast 100-meter races. It is obvious that Omanyala wants to stand on the medal podium in Budapest this summer at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, which will be held August 19-August 27, 2023.

Justin Lagat has been writing for RunBlogRun for a decade. On a nearly weekly basis, Justin Lagat provides us a view of the sport from one of the most important countries in global athletics.

Justin Lagat is our senior writer in Kenya, and we appreciate his candor and thoughtfulness as he gives us an insider view in the the complexities of Kenyan Athletics.

Ferdinand Omanyala is a man of deep convictions. He is quite popular with his countrypeople in Kenya, who love to watch him run and respect his strong faith, which he exhibits on social media.

Justin Lagat interviewed Ferdinand for a story we posted just a couple of days away.

Ferdinand Omanyala is a fine sprinter and could be the first African sprinter to take the World Championships. He has the speed, talent, and focus.

On April 29, 2023, Ferdinand Omanyala will compete over 100 meters in the Botswana Grand Prix against a very talented field.

Ferdinand is bringing interest into the sprints in a country that is known for the middle and long distances.

Justin Lagat’s text interview with Ferdinand Omanyala can be found here: https://www.runblogrun.com/2023/04/omanyala-hopes-to-make-history-as-the-first-african-to-win-the-100m-world-title-in-budapest.html

Justin Lagat’s audio interview with Ferdinand Omanyala is just below.

Special thanks to Brian Eder for the audio interview production.
