His stunning victory in Tokyo 2020, where he became the first Italian to win the Olympic 100m title, catapulted him into the global spotlight. Since then, he has won the world Indoor title but failed to live up to the billing at the 2022 World Championship in Eugene after he pulled out of the semis due to Injury. If he is in pristine shape, it will be hard to not see Jacob matching.
Fred Kerley put up a show last week at the Sieko Grand Prix in Yokohama when he ran 9.88s in his heats and 9.91s in the final. Known for his incredible power and stride length, Kerley has consistently delivered impressive performances. Deep down, he knows he must prove a point as the best in the world.
Former world indoor champion Trayvon Bromell will be eager to reclaim his status as the world’s fastest man. Bromell’s career has been plagued by injuries, but he has shown resilience and determination in his comeback. With a personal best of 9.76s, this will he his first 100m race of the season. The American finished the indoor season as the fastest in the world, having run 6.42 in Clemson.
Letsile Tebogo, the rising star from Botswana, is poised to make a mark in the 100m event too. With a personal best of 9.91 seconds, Tebogo has demonstrated his potential to compete with the best. Earlier this year, he finished second behind Omanyala over the 100m at the Botswana Grand Prix and ran 19.87 to win the 200m. He’s one that can throw the cat among the pigeons.
