Hibbert and Alfred won the Bowerman Awards from EME News.

DENVER (USA): The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the winners of the annual Bowerman Awards on Thursday. The men’s winner of the annual Bowerman Awards was double NCAA triple jump champion Jaydon Hibbert (JAM) of Arkansas.

At the age of 18, Hibbert is the youngest ever to win the Bowerman. He beat out NCAA Indoor heptathlon champ Kyle Garland (USA/Georgia) and NCAA outdoor winner (and collegiate record setter) Leo Neugebauer (GER) of Texas. The women’s trophy was presented to Texas star Julien Alfred (LCA), who dominated the sprints. Also nominated were Britton Wilson and Jasmine Moore.

RunBlogRun opines: USTFCCCA is one of the most legit organziations in the sport. If you are a college coach
and you are not at the USTFCCCA convention, I think you might be truly missing something. The USTFCCCA convention is one of the most effective events in the coaching world.

The challenge is this. Track and Field is one of the largest sports in the US college firmament. It is also a sport that is being minimized at the collegiate level in many circumstances. One of the ways that coaches can work together for common causes is through USTFCCCA.  The organization already supports the ESPN TV broadcast of the NCAA Division I Cross Country.

The Bowerman Awards are a very effective platform to elevate collegiate track and field in the sports world. The quality of the streaming video, and the hosting by John Anderson has been one of the treats of the Awards over the past several years. The recent Collegiate Track & Field Hall of Fame, introduced in Eugene, Oregon, just prior to the Prefontaine this past fall, was an exciting addition to the USTFCCCA programs.

Jaydon Hibbert and Julien Alfred are the 2023 winners of The Bowerman Award, which is announced on a streaming video platform and emceed by the one and only John Anderson.

Great job by Sam Seamses and the USTFCCCA team! RunBlogRun was fortunate to attend several years ago and truly enjoyed the conferences, the clinics, and the chance to learn from many coaches.
