4. This is Larry Rawson’s 50th year as the voice of the Marathon.
5. The 4th time is the charm, as Sisay Lemma won the BAA Boston Marathon in 2:06.17.

6. Winning for the second year in a row was Hellen Obiri on the women’s side in 2:22.35.

7. First American male was CJ Albertson in 2:09.53 in 7th place! CJ has run 5 marathons in the last 5 months (3 in five weeks under 2:11:50, 2:10:07 at the Olympic Trials, and now, 7th at Boston. CJ has a very exciting last 5k in his marathons. The 50k WR holder is one tough dude!

8. The first American female was Emma Bates, who placed 12th in 2:27:14. Emma had a fine Chicago in 2022 but was injured in late 2023, keeping her out of the Olympic Trials in February 2024.

9. Sarah Hall was 15th in 2:27.58 and Des Linden was 16th in 2:28.27!

Larry Eder has had a 52-year involvement in the sport of athletics. Larry has experienced the sport as an athlete, coach, magazine publisher, and now, journalist and blogger. His first article, on Don Bowden, America's first sub-4 minute miler, was published in RW in 1983. Larry has published several magazines on athletics, from American Athletics to the U.S. version of Spikes magazine. He currently manages the content and marketing development of the RunningNetwork, The Shoe Addicts, and RunBlogRun. Of RunBlogRun, his daily pilgrimage with the sport, Larry says: "I have to admit, I love traveling to far away meets, writing about the sport I love, and the athletes I respect, for my readers at runblogrun.com, the most of anything I have ever done, except, maybe running itself." Also does some updates for BBC Sports at key events, which he truly enjoys.
