Our topics:
1. The Boston Marathon is just 13 days away, April 15, 2024, www.bostonmarathon.com.
2. Stories about Bill Rodgers, who set AR at Boston in April 1975, in a t-shirt with GBTC written in magic marker, a pair of Nike Bostons, sent with a hand-written note from Steve Prefontaine, and stopped 4 times during the 26.2-mile sojourn from Hopkinson to Boston.
3. The Boston Marathon is a litmus test of the sport’s health. My visit to Chicago last October showed me that Chicago was all of the way back.
4. I will be covering the Boston Marathon remotely this year and hope to get back to it next year.
5. This is the 10th anniversary of Meb Keflezighi’s win in Boston in 2014. I was there for that and loved it. Meb just did his last long run, 22.5 miles at 6.52 pace, and said he felt good.
Here’s our salute to Meb Keflezighi from 2014! https://www.runblogrun.com/2017/11/runblogruns-2014-us-male-athlete-of-the-year-meb-keflezighi-a-video-salute-by-the-shoe-addicts.html
6. Did you read the story on the World Cross Country from Cathal Dennehy?
7. Mike Rowbottom has sent us a 7th and 8th story. I am just a week behind; sorry. I will be getting his pieces posted this week!
8. Stuart Weir has two more interviews, Morgan Lake and Laura Muir, and will post them tomorrow.
9. Best wishes to Jack Fleming and his team at the Boston Marathon, presented by the Bank of America!
See you tomorrow at Coffee with Larry!
