This is one of the most exciting meets of the year. The USATF NYC Grand Prix will be held on June 9 with some of the finest athletes in the world. Remember, it is only 11 days from the US Olympic Trials, so the meet will have special status this year as athletes are testing their fitness before the trip to Eugene.

NEW YORK, New York. (Apr. 22, 2024) – World championships medalists Noah Lyles, Gabby Thomas, and Rai Benjamin are set to return to Icahn Stadium for the USATF NYC Grand Prix, organizers announced today.

A gold-level stop on World Athletics’ Continental Tour Gold, the USATF NYC Grand Prix, will occur at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island in New York City on Sunday, June 9. Tickets for the event on are now on sale at http://www.nycgrandprix.com/.

Attempting his third-straight victory at the USATF NYC Grand Prix, Noah Lyles will lead the men’s 200m field. Lyles enjoyed a season for the ages in 2023, becoming the first man since 2015 to win the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay at the World Athletics Championships. Lyles, now a six-time world champion and the Olympic bronze medalist from Tokyo 2020, is coming off a fantastic indoor campaign in which he captured his first USATF Indoor title at 60m, as well as silver medals in the 60m and 4x400m relay at the World Athletics Indoor Championships.

Gabby Thomas will return to the USATF NYC Grand Prix after a fantastic 2023 season. At last year’s World Athletics Championships, Thomas won silver and gold medals over 200m as part of Team USA’s 4x100m relay, respectively. Thomas’ lifetime best of 21.60, set last year at the USATF Outdoor Championships, makes her the fourth-fastest woman in history over 200m.

Making his USATF NYC Grand Prix debut, local favorite and second fastest 400m hurdler of all-time Rai Benjamin will be racing at Icahn Stadium for the first time since high school. Benjamin, who hails from nearby Mt. Vernon, New York, won silver and gold medals in the 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay, respectively, at the 2020 Olympic Games, which he also accomplished at the 2019 and 2022 World Athletics Championships. At last year’s World Athletics Championships, Benjamin anchored Team USA to gold in the men’s 4x400m after winning bronze in the men’s 400m hurdles final.

The 2024 USATF NYC Grand Prix, a gold-level World Athletics Continental Tour member, will be shown live on NBC from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT and on Peacock from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 9.
