Femke Bol added more drama and excitement to the 400m hurdles and Paris 2024 by racing a new ER/NR of 50.95, the third fastest time in history in the 400-meter hurdles. The two times faster than Femke? Well, that would be, you guessed it, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone!

LA-CHAUX-DE-FONDS (SUI, Jul 14): The Resisprint meeting in La-Chaux-de-Fonds (WACT Challenger) produced incredible times en masse in the sprint and sprint hurdles events again. Femke Bol smashed her European 400m hurdles record, becoming the second athlete to break the 51 barrier with 50.95, the third fastest time in history behind Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s world records of 50.65 and 50.68. Second, Kemi Adekoya was 53.41 ahead of Ayomide Folorunson at 54.67, but Jessie Knight won the other race in 54.59. Nadine Visser won the 100m hurdles in a Dutch record of 12.36 by 0.01 (+1.6, after first NR 12.42 in heats) by Pia Skrzyszowska, who set a 12.37 PB, followed by Marione Fourie’s 12.50, in heats Lotta Harala Finnish record 12.65.  Home favorite Mujinga Kambundji won the 100m flat on home soil in 10.90 EL (+1.4), just 0.01 shy of her Swiss record, ahead of teammate Salome Kora, who broke the 11 barriers for the first time in her career with 10.95. In the 400m, former world champion Salwa Eid Naser ran 49.66, her fastest time in five years, ahead of Norway’s Henriette Jaeger, who broke the 50 barrier for the first time with a massive national record of 49.85. Brit Lina Nielsen and Eveline Saalberg from the Netherlands won their respective races in 50.78 and 50.95 PBs. Germany’s Jessica-Bianca Wessolly was a surprise winner of the 200m in a 22.50 PB (+1.0) ahead of Bianca Williams in 22.60. In comparison, fellow Brits Amy Hunt and Success Eduan ran 22.65 and 22.66 PB (+1.4) in another 200 m race. Sally Sarr from Senegal won triple 14.10 (+0.8).
