This is my daily chat with #RunBlogRun viewers and track fans on all things track & field!
This is Coffee with Larry for Monday, December 9, 2024.
Live from Porter Square Hotel, Cambridge, MA ( www.portersquarehotel.com )
Coffee with Larry is sponsored by OMIUS, the cooling technology company. OMIUS makes headbands, vizors and hats featuring OMIUS cooling pods, that when moistened every 30-45 minutes keep you nice and cool during a tough workout or race!
Omius is the official cooling technology partner of RunBlogRun
Sifan Hassan and Bashir Abdi used this tech during the brutal conditions in Paris during the marathon to keep cool and perform!
Check out OMIUS at www.omius.io.
Our topics today;
1. Congrats to the winners of the 20th NIKE NXN Cross Country Championships, held last Saturday at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Oregeon. The Girls team winner was Denver, with 75 points, Lone Peak, with 107 points and Clovis with 121 points. The Boys’ team winner was Niwot, 70 points, American Fork, 96, Herriman, 106 points.
Finish on Empty, NXN
2. Jane Hedengren (SW) won in 16.32.7, some 40 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor, Victoria Garces, who had won the MW FootLocker the week prior, in 17:13.4. Elizabeth Leachman, 2023 winner of FL, was third in 17:13.7, Keegan Edwards, 17:13.7, Addy Ritzehnhein, 17:16.0.
3. Charlie Vause surprised a few folks with his fine win in 15:28.1. TJ Hansen was second in 15:30.6, Caden Leonard, was third in 15:31.0, Thomas Latham was 4th in 15:32.4, and Evan Noonan was fifth in 15:32.7.
4. This is the 20th year of the NIKE NXN event, which got its wings from the NIKE Border Clash, which was held for over 15 years as a battle between Oregon and Washington cross country high school best. I loved that event.
5. SPAR European Cross Country Champs were December 8, 2024, in Anatlya, Turkey. Spain took the men’s senior title, and Italy took the womens. Jakob Ingebrigtsen won his 3rd senior title and Nadia Battocletti won her first. Team GB won U23, U20 Men and women plus individual, more details tomorrow.
