LUXEMBOURG (LUX, Jan 19): Three early world leads were achieved at the CMCM Indoor Meeting (opening WIT Silver season meeting). Only two events did not register new meet records. Local hero Patrizia van der Weken won the 60m in a new NR of 7.07 WL from Orlann Oliere of France (7.18). Jakub Szymański delivered 60m hurdles NR for Poland with 7.41 WL, also tied second in the European all-time lists behind Colin Jackson, winning over Belgium’s Elie Bacari 7.55 (7.51 NR in heats), while Tejas Shirse clocked 7.65 NR for India in heats. Spain’s Elvin José Canales topped the 800m in 1:44.65 short-track NR, WL ahead of Bartosz Kitliński of Poland (1:45.65 short-track PB). Marta Zenoni topped the women’s 1500m in a new short-track NR of 4:03.59 WL (former NR of Gabriell Dorio comes from 1982 4:04.01) over Marta García of Spain (4:09.80 short-track PB). Germany’s Florian Bremm won the 3000m in 7:39.01 PB ahead of Ruben Verheyden of Belgium (7:39.90), Kenya’s Mathew Kipsang (7:40.29), Romain Mornet of France (7:40.39 short-track PB) and Mahadi Abdi Ali (7:40.99), short-track NR for Netherlands.

South Africa’s Marione Fourie dominated the 60m hurdles in 7.98 (7.91 NR in heats in first ever indoor race for her) over Giada Carmassi of Italy (8.00 PB), Germany’s Rosina Schneider (8.01 PB), Saara Keskitalo of Finland (8.03 PB) and Kreete Verlin (8.06 NR for Estonia). Germany’s Jessica-Bianca Wessolly topped the 200m in 22.84 short-track PB, with another NR for Luxembourg by second Patrizia van der Weken (23.17). Switzerland’s Angelica Moser cleared 465 in the pole vault, winning over Imogen Ayris of New Zealand (455), Belgium’s Pieter Sisk won the 1500m in 3:36.71 short-track PB, Maksymilian Szwed of Poland the 400m (46.51) over Hungary’s Patrik Enying (46.57), short-track PB for both, Plamena Mitkova of Bulgaria the long jump (655) and Poland’s Konrad Bukowiecki the shot put (20.42).
