The presser for the 2025 USATF Indoor Championships had a fine panel, a spirited conversation between the media and the athletes and an emcee who obviously enjoys the task at hand.

Here are my observations:

Coffee With Larry, Episode 814, November 8, 2025, NYCM Review , part 3/4, New York, the Big City Marathon

  1. Josh Hoey. What a season! PBs at the mile, 1,500m, 1000m and 800m, with ARs at the 1,000 m in 2:14.48, 800m in 1:43.90 and PBs of 3:52 and 3:33.61. Josh told us that he is focused on the 800 meters. A most ernest young man, Josh is just starting to realize how his life has changed. This young man could win Nanjing title. He is for real.
  2. Grant Holloway, one of my favorites. The WR holder at the 60 meter hurdles, Olympic gold and silver, two time Indoor WC and three time WC outdoor. Grant has won 80 indoor races, going back to 2010. Holloway works hard, demands the very best, and has a great team surrounding him. His new project with Rai Benjamin and Noah Lyles, a podcast must be seen.
  3. Alexis Holmes, a real talent over 400 meters. Alexis has the meet record at the US indoor champs. A statuesque athlete, Alexis is poised and thoughtful. I suspect that Alexis will take down Sanya Richard-Ross’s AR at 400 meters, soon.
  4. Katie Holmes, Olympic gold, Olympic silver, WC gold, WC silver, is a supreme competitor. One of the best technically at the pole vault, her strength is her absolutely ferocious approach to competition. Katie Holmes looks really fit, I expect a 5 plus meter jump this season.
  5. Jasmine Jones is a medalist at the long jump and triple jump in the Olympics, never done before by a women. Jasmine is a supreme talent, mentally tough and possesed of physical skills that would surprise the most overconfident male athlete. I can not tell which event is Jasmine’s best, but I can tell you this, do no be surprised if she takes gold in both events in the near future.
  6. Vernon Norwood. Vernon is the most under rated 400 meter in the world. Vernon has scored PBs four of the last four years. He is a deadly relay runner. I consider him the Zen master of the 4x400m relay. Rai Benjamin told me about his respect for a man who has made EIGHT championship teams. A nice guy off the track, Vernon Norwood is focused and ferocious. Time for Vernon to win an individual title.

What a pleasure to meet you Larry and learn about Run Blog Run! Taking the time to talk to NYC Metro Eagle Track and Field moms supporting our track families and sharing your story and personal journey was delightful.

Tara, your wonderful group of track moms made my day! My mother, Marilu would bring my brother and sisters to many of my track meets.
Seeing you there with your children really made my day!
