BANSKÁ BYSTRICA (SVK, Feb 18): Yaroslava Mahuchikh highlighted the 31st edition of the high jump meeting ‘Banskobystrická latka’ (WIT Silver), clearing a world lead of 201 and winning in Banská for the fourth time in front of a sold-out and enthusiastic audience. She opened at 190, had trouble at 193 (after two failures, she was successful at 196 on the third/saved attempt), and cleared 199 and 201 on her first. Mahuchikh also tried at 204, with quite promising last two jumps.

Eleanor Patterson was very confident when she cleared all heights at her first attempt, including a world lead of 199, but failed at 201 and finished second. Angelina Topić was third with 196 ahead of Lilianna Bátori (193 on second), equalling the Hungarian U20 record and improving the U20 World lead, and Morgan Lake (193 on third). Woo Sanghyeok won the men’s competition with 228 and tried at a would-be world lead of 232 from Luis Enrique Zayas, who cleared 225 and finished second. Italy’s Manuel Lando was third on countback with 221, ahead of four other jumpers of the same height, including 40-year-old former World champion Donald Thomas, who improved his 40+ World Masters Indoor record in his tenth and final start at the meeting.
