Ngetich 29:27 women only WR
HERZOGENAURACH (GER, Apr 26): As anticipated, special day of road racing, adizero: Road to Records (WA Label) at the adidas headquarters, produced fast times and several records. Agnes Ngetich became the first athlete to break 30 minutes in a women-only 10K, smashing through that barrier with 29:27 (14:37/14:50) ahead of Ethiopians Fentaye Belayneh (30:30) and Senayet Getachew (30:31 PB), with seventh Thalia Valdivia of Peru (31:44 South American record). “I’m so excited, I didn’t expect this,” Ngetich said. “Last year I missed it by two seconds, so I wanted to come here today and try for it again. I’m so proud of myself. After missing out on the Olympics last year, I want to make up for it this year at the World Championships.”
