Beatrice Chebet (KEN) wins the Women's 5000m with a time of 14:03.69 in a new Meeting Record at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea - Presented by IP, part of the Wanda Diamond League, on Friday 6 June 2025, photo by Diamond League AG

The Golden Gala Pietro Mennea is one of my favorite events. I visited in 2010 and 2011 and loved it! I also believe I visited in 2015-2016, but I will have to check my diary.

This year was tremendous. Trayvon Bromell, a quietly confident, thoughtful sprinter, is back, with a world leading 9.84! Katie Moon, who last won here in 2022, had a clutch performance, clearing 4.75m and 4.80m on her third attempts!
