CHULA VISTA (USA, Jun 29): Katie Moon cleared a outdoor pole vault world lead of 483 at the Born to Run Invite. Celera Barnes clocked fast but windy 10.79w (2.5) in the 100m to win from Liberia’s Destiny Smith-Barnett (11.12w), also 11.11 (0.7) in heats. Monae’ Nichols won the long jump with 688 (1.3) ahead of Ese Brume of Nigeria 679 (1.7) and Chantel Malone of British Virgin Islands 665 (1.7), while Damarcus Simpson leaped to 812 (1.9) winning the men’s event over Jarrion Lawson 805 (1.4). Zimbabwe’s Chengetayi Mapaya topped the triple jump with 16.76 (0.9) ahead of Italy’s Emmanuel Ihemeje 16.60 (1.1) and former multiple global medallist Will Claye 16.60 (0.1), while Scott Toney improved to 567 in the pole vault.
