US athletes in Rome
US athletes have a long history of racing well in Rome, at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea.

In the men’s 100 meters, Trayvon Bromell, USA, a 2016 Olympian and medalist, ran a 9.84 in the 100, with a world leader! Brandon Hicklin, USA, tppl fourth in 10.04. Fred Kerley, two time Olympic medalist, took fifth in 10.06. Courtney Lindsay ran 10.18 in seventh.
In the 400 meters, Quincy Hall, Paris Olympic champ, won the 400 meters in 44.22 with Zakithi Nene, RSA, in 44.23! Vernon Norwood, USA, one of the most wiley and veteran 400m runners, was fifth in 44.86.
In the 1,500m, Vincent Ciattei, USA, ran 3:31.69, in 12th, and now has the World Champs qualifier.
In the 110m hurdles, Cordell Tinch, who ran 12.87 in Shanghai in April, was second in Rome in 13.14 to Jason Joseph, 13.14 as well! Dylan Beard, USA, was third in 13.28, Daniel Roberts, USA was fifth in 13.40.

In the high jump, JuVaughn Harrison, USA, jumped 2.26m in fourth.
In the shot put, Joe Kovacs, USA was fourth in 21.59m, Adrian Piperi, USA was fifth in 21.58m and Payton Otterdahl, USA, was sixth in 21.56m. In tenth, Roger Steen, USA, threw 20.30m.
On the women’s side, McKenzie Long, USA, ran 22.91 in 4th in the 200 meters.
In the 1,500 meters, Heather Maclean, USA ran 3:59.71 in fourth.
In the 5,000 meters, Josette Andrews finished sixth in 14:25.37, #3 on US all-time list. Shelby Houlihan was 10th in 14:45.29. Karissa Schweizer, USA, was 16th in 14:56.38.
In the 400m hurdles, Cassandra Tate, USA was 9th in 56.15.
In the pole vault, Sandi Morris won the pole vault, her best competition in Rome since 2022, in 4.80m WL. Gabriela Leon, USA, was tied for second at 4.65m.

In the triple jump, Jasmine Moore, USA took 5th in 14.15m.
Valarie Allman, USA won the discus in 69.21m MR. Valarie came back from two fouls to take the win, her third DL win in 2025!
