Coffee with Larry, Episode 760, Nike Pre Classic, July 1, 2025

This is our almost daily podcast, Coffee with Larry, which we have published since June 2022.

Coffee with Larry is published on an almost daily basis. We are using the video link from our IPHONE, as

the Facebook people have been jerking Live media around a bit. Let me know how it works today!

Coffee with Larry is sponsored by OMIUS, the cooling technology company. OMIUS makes headbands,

hats and headbands. OMIUS adds their cooling pods, which one soaks with water, every 45 minutes, to keep

the athlete cool! Learn more at www.OMIUS.io .

Our topics today:

  1. NIKE Pre Classic, now in its fiftieth year, the Pre Classic gives fans in the U.S. their only chance to see global athletes in a Diamond League setting. This writer has covered the event since the late 1980s, and visited since 1990.
  2. Honoring Steve Prefontaine, AR holder in 2000m to 10,000m at time of his death (May 30, 1975).

  3. The Hayward Restoration Meet was renamed the Pre Classic.
  4. NIKE has sponsored the meet since 1978.
  5. Tom Jordan was steward of the meet and Pre legacy until he retired after 2022.
  6. The meet will be spectacular this year.
  7. RunBlogRun will be there, with Brian Eder, cofounder and Larry Eder.
  8. See you tomorrow on Coffee with Larry!

Coffee with Larry, RunBlogRun and Running Network have been supported by Brooks Running since 1990. This month, we feature the #BrooksGhost17, check it out at www.Brooksrunning.com.
