Two World records
EUGENE (USA, Jul 5): Huge celebration at 50th Prefontaine Classic at the sold out Hayward Field. Two World records were exceptional, Beatrice Chebet as first woman clocked sub 14 over 5000 m and Faith Kipyegon after special mile attempt confirmed her top shape with 1500 m World record and broke 3:49 barrier. One more Area record and DL records in both hammers. In total 7 meet records and 8 World leads including the World records. In most events candidates for Tokyo medals were seen.

100m (Diamond +): Thompson quite clearly in 9.85 (0.4), Hughes finished second (9.91 EL) ahead of Bromell (9.94).

200m: Tebogo again in winning mode in 19.76 (0.7) WL over Lindsey (19.87). Bednarek withdrew due to tightness.
400m: Hudson-Smith in 44.10 ahead of Bailey (44.15 PB).
Bowerman Mile (D+): Laros outsprinted Nuguse in 3:45.94 NR (also European U23 record and 3rd best European ever) to 3:45.95, Habz third (3:46.65 NR) and Hocker fourth (3:47.43 PB).
10,000m: (non-DL): U20 Mehary clocked 26:43.82 WL and won the Ethiopian World Trials ahead of Aregawi (26:43.84) and Barega (26:44.13); Kurgat finished fourth as the best Kenyan (26:43.35 PB).
400mH: Dos Santos managed to win over Benjamin in a close finish, 46.65 to 46.71.
Pole Vault (non-DL): Duplantis with 600 on second attempt, tried at 629.
Shot Put: Great competition with five 22m+ throwers, Kovacs with 22.48 WL ahead of Steen (22.11 PB) and Enekwechi (22.10 AR). Followed by Piperi 22.09 PB and Campbell 22.04.
Discus (non-DL): Alekna threw 70.97 in the second series and won over Mullings (68.98) and Stahl 68.59.
Hammer (non-DL): Winkler shocked the rest of the field with his third attempt of 83.16 WL/MR/NR and defeated Olympic champion Katzberg (81.73).
Women
100m: Jefferson-Wooden in 10.75 (-1.5) defeated Alfred (10.77), Ta Lou-Smith third (10.90), Sears won the invitational race in 10.85 (1.7).
400m (non-DL): McLaughlin-Levrone in a season best of 49.43 over Butler (49.86).
Mutola 800m (D+): Duguma (1:57.10) ahead of Sekgodiso (1:57.16 =PB).
1500m: World record also for Kipyegon in 3:48.68, improving her own previous best (3:49.04); Welteji second (3:51.44 PB) ahead of Hull (3:52.67) and Hunter Bell (3:54.76).
5000m: Chebet in a big world record of 13:58.06 ahead of Ngetich (14:01.29 PB) and Tsegay (14:04.41).
100mH (non-DL): Nugent in 12.32 (0.4) ahead of Amusan (12.38), Jones fell during the race.
3000mSC: Yavi in 8:45.25 WL/MR (3rd fastest ever) ahead of Cherotich (8:48.71 PB) and Chemutai (8:51.77).
Long Jump: Davis-Woodhall leaped to 707 (1.9) in final series and equalled a world lead of Mihambo, who was second with 701 (1.8).
Shot Put: Jackson again attacked the 21-meter barrier, won with 20.94 MR ahead of Mitton (20.39) and Jaida Ross (20.13 PB).
Discus (D+): Allman with 70.68 MR over Cierra Jackson (67.82 PB) ane Elkasevic (66.97).
Hammer (non-DL): Rogers improved in her fourth attempt to 78.88 DLR/NR to win over Andersen (76.95).
