TOKYO 2025 DAY 3

WORLD RECORD
Mondo Duplantis set the 37th world record at World championships, his 14th with barrier breaking 630. It happened at 22.48 hrs local time in third attempt. He remains unbeaten in 37 competitions. In a competition of record depth, Emmanouil Karalis of Greece cleared 6.00m to secure silver and Kurtis Marschall equalled his PB of 5.95m to clinch bronze on countback. Karalis tried at 610, 615 and 620 once showing his future ambitions. It is the first time that seven men have ever cleared 5.90m or higher in a single competition, and the first time that 5.95m has not been enough for a medal. “It’s better than I could have imagined.  I guess there is not a limit for me. Maybe I am the one to find out what the limit in pole vault really is. Today was a pretty much a dream competition. I was not alone at a lot of heights. Emmanouil  was pushing me a lot. I have never jumped at 6.20m and had another guy with me. That”s quite special. I got juices from it. I am very proud of him for performing, not only today but throughout the season. He is pushing me and making me a better jumper. He got the best out of me too. Looking at 6.40 metres, that”s a new barrier in pole vaulting. That”s a new chapter.”QUOTES OF THE DAY
“This was a turn-up, wasn”t it? That was pretty unreal. I am still taking it all in. I just can”t believe how hot the crowd was. Everything was hard but it all ended up well for me. It”s unreal. I”m pretty stoked. I did a lot in the last 200 metres. You just need to visualise winning before it happens, and it will happen. I just gave myself a shot in the last 200 metres. I knew I had it in me tonight. I only knew I”d win one metre before the finish and that was enough. It”s a first track gold for New Zealand at a world championships, which is pretty cool,” Geordie Beamish who earlier in the heats was getting a spike to his face. First track medal for New Zealand at Worlds.

RESULT OF THE DAY (non WR)
12.24 by Ditaji Kambundji only, 2nd best ever by an European only 0.03 behind ER and former WR of Jordanka Donkova from 1988. Camryn Rogers 80.51 NR, WL and 2nd best mark ever behind Anita Wlodarczyk 6 results.
