The Team GB performances in the relays in Tokyo were disappointing. In Budapest 2023, Team GB took three relay medals. In 2024, in Paris, Team GB performances had five relay medals, four silvers and bronze (remember, in Eugene, Team GB took two relay medals). Why is this such a big deal across the pond? Lots of money goes into 23 relay runners.

We’ve been really unlucky with the injuries, you have no good fortune. We did have good fortune in Paris. We just didn’t have it here. We want to be one of the best nations. But sometimes you have those years where it’s a big build year, and I think it’s a really good eye-opener for us.”
