The Brooks Run Guide Interviews

with Gary Martin,

Brooks Sponsored NIL Athlete,

Episode 7

Updated December 9, 2025

Gary Martin is an exciting American middle distance runner, coached by Trevor Dunbar and Vinn Lananna at the

University of Virginia. A strong high school runner, Gary ran at Archbishop Wood High School, in Westminster, Pennsylvannia.

Gary just finished fifth in the NCAA SouthEast Regional, as he and his team, the UVA Cavaliers, move to the NCAA Division 1

Cross Country Championships.

Gary Martin runs most weeks around 75-80 miles a week and is focused on quality training, building his endurance and strength to race from 800 meters to 5,000 meters. His favorite indoor distance? The 3,000 meters!

Gary Martin is a Brooks Glycerin fan.

Gary Martin is a Brooks NIL Athlete, and this was a very fun interview!

On December 6, Gary Martin took third in the 5,000 meters at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Opener, in 13:05.57, a nearly 8 second PB! What a great track opener after his 7th place in the NCAA Cross Country Championships on November 22, 2025.

Thanks Gary for your time and enthusiasm!

Gary Martin’s PB’s? Quite Impressive!

1:47.46 for the 800 meters (2024, Charlottesville)

3:32:03 for the 1,500 meters, (2025, Eugene)

3:48:82 for the Mile indoors (2025, New York City)

7:36.09 for the 3,000 meters Indoors (2024, Boston)

13:16.82 for the 5,000 meters (2024, Charlottesville)

New PB at 5,000 meters of 13:05.57 (December 6, 2025)
